This outing was a total blast. The residents enjoyed learning about the different aquatic animals and had fun interacting with them as well. This will be a trip that we will take again soon!

This past week, the community stepped outside and enjoyed some fun in the sun and fresh air out at the gazebo. We enjoyed great conversations while we inhaled the sweet aroma of barbeque into our lungs and ingested the flavorful offerings into our bodies. We hope that you enjoyed your holiday just as much as we did.
Recently, we enjoyed a trip to the Anna Scripps Conservatory. We were taken on a guided tour of the grounds where we learned about a multitude of plant life. We enjoyed every moment and had a tree of topics to discuss on the way back home.
Tuesday, the residents enjoyed a colorful outing at the Lush Brush in Lincoln Park. The residents let their creative capabilities flow onto canvases and displayed their artistic sides for everyone to see.
Today was an extremely special Friday. Normally we have outside entertainment perform, but today we decided to try something different. We enjoyed musical selections from two very special residents and also family, friends and staff participation. This past Tuesday, we enjoyed a visit to the African Safari Wildlife Park. It is a drive and walk through wildlife park in Port Clinton, Ohio. We drove through the 100-acre preserve and watched and fed the animals from the bus. It was an experience we will never forget and would love to enjoy again!
This past Friday two of our residents celebrated 27 years of marriage. Mr. McKenzie sang a song to his wife in honor of the love they have shared throughout the years. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie on a blissful twenty-seven years down and a lifetime to go from everyone here at The Fountains at Franklin!
Karaoke is a monthly Watermark University class taught by Sandra. The residents and staff come together to sing some of their favorite songs. Today the residents enjoyed lunch at Benihana. They enjoyed the show just as much as they did the food!
Last Friday at “Happy Hour” we had a special guest performer. A resident joined the Rick Gould Band and helped them rock the house. Everyone enjoyed the performance and most importantly, he enjoyed himself. We encourage our residents and staff to show their talents and create meaningful moments with The Fountains at Franklin.
This week in “Decorating Desserts,” class, the residents created a strawberry shortcake. This strawberry shortcake was made with French vanilla cupcakes, strawberry topping marinated in cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla and topped with whipped cream. The residents enjoyed preparing this desert, but they enjoyed eating it even more!
This week, our residents enjoyed the beautiful scenery at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. We walked the many nature trails and explored the different habitats. We had a refreshing visit from Taylor International Academy today. The children sang, danced and even encouraged “color therapy” with our Memory Care and Assisted Living residents. This experience brought joy and warmth to their hearts and also to the staff. Everyone enjoyed the visit and we hope to see them again really soon.
On this hot summer day, the residents created a cool desert to beat the extreme heat. These white chocolate edible bowls were filled with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, pecans, and topped with a cherry. It was a real treat!
Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 240 years ago in 1776 on July 4 by the Continental Congress. We celebrated by putting our hands to work and creating a red, white and blue three dimensional star.
This past week, the staff and residents came together and got their hands dirty. while doing so, they gained both physical and mental health benefits. Gardening is a great way to reduce stress and socialize. What are you waiting for? Go out and plant the day away!
