Austin Jackson — Executive Chef
Chef Austin credits his grandmother for instilling his passion for great food. His earliest memories of cooking came from helping in her kitchen when he was a boy. She would sit in a chair and he would pass her spices from the cabinets. He was always amazed how she never measured the ingredients! She would just skillfully toss them into her sauces and soups and the resulting aromas could wake a hungry child right out of his sleep.
Chef Austin received his Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Management from The Art Institute of Michigan. His prize-winning cooking skills have resulted in a 2012 Chili Cook Off championship, as well as Most Unique, Best All Around and Most Flavorful Creation at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market 2015 Bacon Bash.
Since joining The Fountains at Franklin as Executive Chef in 2014, Chef Austin has enjoyed getting to know amazing residents. He especially enjoys hearing their stories about the favorite dishes they’ve cooked for their own families. “Our residents motivate me to do the best I can do each and every day,” he said.
